I was brought up in Dieren next to the city of Arnhem. Here I spend the first part of my childhood before we moved to Raalte in the east of the Netherlands. We is my parents, my brother Mark and sister Nienke.
Childhood dream
I studied Safety and Security Management in Deventer at the Saxion University of Applied Sciences. After which I fulfilled my childhood dream by becoming an officer cadet at the Royal Netherlands Military Academy (RNMA). There I experienced what is does to people if they are placed outside of their comfortzone. And what the potential is of true cooperation in line of a purpose that is bigger than yourself.
Outdoor
I left the RNMA because it wasn’t the right environment for me at that time. But it was clear for me that i found a profound interest in group dynamics and loved adventure activities. So I followed the studie of Outdoor Management and became a senior outdoor instructor.
Because the Netherland lack any mountains and serious height difference I worked for 5 years at Omni Mobilea an outdoor and team-development location.
Joining Voys
In 2013 i started at Voys as Techincal customer support. It was my plan to work there just temporally, because it ment working indoors, no outdoor adventure and I did’t want to work together with my brother. 6 years later i’m finally leaving Voys and wow it has been an awesome and impactful chapter of my life.
During my time at Voys I quickly focused on our self-management way of organising and working together. I did a lot of cool projects, guided Voys during the implementation of Holacracy, implemented a new salary model that fits our self-management & future needs and I saw Voys grew from a company of 15 people to 120. With pride and determination I contributed to making the (telecom) world more equal and beautiful.
Now it’s time to expand my playground again and experience what traveling the world does for me and us.
Nadine about Jorg:
The first thing that comes to mind is the canyoning trip in Spain. We were working there and went canyoninging during the weekend and I remember saying to other colleagues “ Jorg is joining us, so we will be fine”.
He just brings a natural sense of trust for people around him and has a high dosis of adaptability. So he isn’t spooked easily and knows or finds a solution in every situation.
He has strong principles and values and strives to be extremely open. Wherefrom he benefits in his work, because It makes him capable of touching the essence easily in situations and interactions with people. He doen’t like to stay on the surface of subjects.
Jorg sees the world lovely bright and positive, simply put: Life is beautiful. He loves kidding around which emphasis his attitude towards live, just don’t take life to serious.
Don’t be fooled by his outside appearance, because he is an deep emotional person and a romanticist. Capable of creating special authentic moments that impress others.
Jorg needs his monkey time, as I call it. You should give him space and let him be free to do what he wants to do, in his own way en whenever he wants to. And especially where he wants to. Where would be outside in his case. That’s when his eyes shine the brightest and you would see his biggest smile!
Although he adapts extremely easily, one rule applies for Jorg:
‘Don’t cage the monkey and do feed him on time”
